Defensive errors cost The Alex at The Ricoh
Crewe Alexandra Under 23'd suffered defeat at Coventry City's Ricoh Arena in a topsy-turvey 4-3 thriller.Dan Udoh's brace and Oli Finney's strike wasn't enough to gain a reward for The Alex, as a lacklustre defensive display saw four goals fly into Dave Richards' net.
The hosts took the lead through Jack McBean early on, Richards dropping a cross for the poacher to stab home.
Crewe responded immediately via Udoh - the striker pouncing on an error by the Coventry keeper to slam home from just yards out.
The Alex went 2-1 ahead on the stroke of half-time, Alex Kiwomya won a free kick in a dangerous position on the right and Finney's inswinger bypassed everyone in the box and found the far corner.
Moments after the interval and it was 2-2, McBean again on the score sheet curling in from the edge of the area.
By 49 minutes Crewe had restored their advantage, Udoh grabbing his second firing in one-on-one after a cutting through ball sent him through.
In a blistering opening to the half, The Sky Blues levelled at 3-3 almost immediately, Kyle Spence firing in after more good hold-up play from McBean.
The comeback was complete for the home side mid-way through the second period, Spence notching his second of the game before they held Crewe off and saw the game out for the three points.
