U18: Crewe 2-2 Bristol City

9 March 2017

Bell's side fight back for a share of the points

An unfortunate Crewe Alex U18’s were held to a 2-2 draw by Bristol City to make it eight games without a win for the side.

Due to the busy schedule, Manager Lee Bell lost a number of his squad to the first team & U23’s for the visit of the Robins, but still bossed the game in an encounter where the Alex could, and probably should, have won.

Despite controlling the first half, Crewe were 2-0 down at the break, Bristol scoring a header from a corner 2 minutes into the contest, before doubling their lead with a swift counter-attack on 40 minutes.

Crewe continued to play good football into the second period & pulled one back just after the interval, Josh Lundstram converting an effort into the top corner from the edge of the box after a pull-back from the by-line.

The deserved leveller came on 72 minutes, Regan Griffiths heading in from a Luke Walley cross, and Crewe then pushed on for the winner but City held on to escape Reaseheath with a point.

Crewe: Wardley, Johnson, Manuel, Offord, Barlow, Griffiths, Lundstram, Harrison (Thompson), Lynch, Walsh (Hurst), Walley
