U18: Crewe 1-2 QPR

22 September 2016

Walley goal not enough for spirited U18 side

Kenny Lunt’s plucky Under 18’s lost out 2-1 to Queens Park Rangers at Reaseheath despite putting in one of their most accomplished performances of the season.

The visitors took the lead after 28 minutes, the striker driving in one-on-one with Jake Hilton’s goal & smashing a left-footed shot across the keeper and in.

Crewe responded brilliantly, Lewis Reilly hitting the bar with a header before the dominance continued into the second half and Luke Walley made the scores level at 1-1, latching onto a ball over the top and using his strength to hold off the defender before steering in.

The Alex continued to create and play neat football, but QPR hit them with the sucker-punch ten minutes from time, breaking the length of the field with a slick counter before the forward slid in the winner from a low cross.

Crewe: Hilton, Offord (Thompson), Sass-Davies, Wilkinson, Barlow, Lynch (Hurst), Lundstram, Pickering, Dale, Walley, Reilly (Griffiths)
