U18: Crewe 1-1 Sheffield Wednesday

10 February 2017

U18’s Held By Owls At Reaseheath

Crewe’s Under 18’s dominated for long periods against Sheffield Wednesday but had to settle for a 1-1 draw.

The Owls took the lead with a penalty after half an hour when full-back Travis Johnson was adjudged to have fouled in the box. Scott Wardley got a hand to the kick, but he couldn’t keep it out.

Crewe had a fantastic opportunity to draw level with a penalty of their own two minutes shy of half-time, but having won the spot-kick, Regan Griffiths missed with the Owls keeper saving well.

Crewe continued to press & create chances aplenty in the second-half & eventually found the equaliser nine minutes from time – Luke Walley striking on target, with the ball ricocheting off Joe Thompson into net.

With the Alex grabbing their deserved equaliser, they pushed for the winner but it wasn’t to be.

Crewe: Wardley, Johnson, Offord, Barlow (Adebousi), Lynch, Harrison, Hurst (Walsh), Thompson (Heath), Griffiths, Walley
