Turton: "We Have To Bounce Back"

8 December 2016

Right back wants Colchester defeat put of the system.

Crewe Alexandra defender Ollie Turton is hoping that our recent break will pay dividends when we resume our league action against Crawley Town this weekend. Crewe will be aiming to put a disappointing 4-0 defeat at Colchester United behind them with positive results against Dermot Drummy’s Red Devils this weekend.

The break has allowed boss Steve Davis to get some of his injured players back from injuries and Turton, who has only just returned from injury himself,  believes that the squad is now better equipped to deal with the busy festive period.

Ahead of our clash with Crawley, Turton told the club’s official web-site: “I carried on as much as I could but I didn't want to make the injury any worse. Some of the lads too were struggling with injury and to keep fit, so this has given us the chance to get the whole squad back together and look forward to this next game against Crawley.

“The league is really close at the moment. We need to just carry on and keep trying to get positive results to keep us right up there and not fall away from it.

It’s like we didn’t turn up at Colchester. It’s hard to explain really. “

“At the start of the game we felt quite comfortable, despite the bad start, because we were in the game. It was only 1-0 at half-time but then we just seemed to let easy goals in and it ended up being a bad day because we shouldn’t be losing by that many.”
