Turton: "It Felt Like A Win"

20 February 2017

Ollie says it was brilliant to score a goal that mattered as Crewe fight back from 2-0 down.

Saturday’s goalscorer Ollie Turton said that our 2-2 draw at Blackpool felt like a victory after we stormed back from being 2-0 at the half-time interval. Following Turton’s dramatic equaliser, Crewe could have even have won all three points in stoppage time when substitute Alex Kiwomya saw a late effort saved by the Blackpool number one Sam Slocombe.

Turton told the club’s official web-site: “It felt like a win. To be fair we had a lot of the game in the first half but came in two nil down. We shouldn’t have been 2-0 down but we made mistakes. I felt we were still on top for large parts of it.

“The gaffer said at half-time that we would get on top and that we would continue to get chances and we did.

“We just had to have that confidence and belief that we could get back into the game. We believed we would and that we would be good enough to do it.

thought there were chances there for us and soon as Nuge (Ben Nugent) put the ball in, I thought I would try and get into the box. I knew the lad wasn’t going to track me back, so I thought I would get forward. “I felt I should have scored in the first half but I chose to lay it off, so I was kicking myself a bit for that. To be honest I

Turton added: “It was a great header from Jordan (Bowery) and I was able to finish it. It was a great feeling in front of the fans. It was brilliant. It was my first goal that had been an equaliser, the other two goals I’ve scored were when we were behind, so it was it was great to score and for us to get a point.”
