Turton: "Good To See Youngsters Coming Through"

28 October 2016

Ollie Turton says that the Academy continues to produce players to make a difference.

Academy graduate Ollie Turton has told the club’s official web-site that the talent coming through the Youth set-up at the club is still very strong. Turton, 23, progressed through the club’s Academy and has now amassed over 100 first-team appearances has been impressed with the way the likes of George Cooper, Charlie Kirk, Callum Ainley and Tom Lowery have performed at first team level.

Ollie told crewealex.net: “The young players have come into the team and done well for us. It is not easy making that step up from the Under-23s and it can take some time but I think everyone can see the difference it has made to George Cooper this season.

“He has been great for us and it is a compliment to him that teams are now setting-up to try and stop the influence he is having on the game.

“Charlie and Callum have been in-and-out of the team but that happens. They are still very young and are still learning the game at first team level.

“I thought Tom did superbly when he came on at Luton. It was a tough game. We were behind and he did really well for us. He helped create our goal and he deserved his chance because he has trained well.

Ollie added: “They all have to keep on going and want to improve as players.”
