Midfielder to undergo MRI scan

Smith has signed on a six-month loan deal from Championship side Newcastle United.

Crewe Alexandra's on-loan midfielder Liam Smith will undergo an MRI scan to assess the full extent of his ankle injury. Smith was injured in the closing minutes of Crewe's 1-1 draw with a Bolton Wanderers XI after being caught by sub Alex Samizadeh. Smith was stretched off and received the necessary treatment at the Alexandra Stadium. The 20-year-old has gone for a scan this morning we will hopefully bring you some positive news later today.
