"Players Need To Run Through Brick Wall For Club"

23 January 2017

Rallying cry from new gaffer as Crewe suffer third straight defeat at table toppers.

David Artell says he ‘needs players prepared to run through a brick wall for the club’ as he prepares to get Crewe Alexandra away from the relegation danger zone.

The newly appointed Crewe Alexandra manager has seen his side slip to two defeats against promotion hopefuls Doncaster Rovers and Luton Town since he succeeded Steve Davis. Artell has called on his players to roll their sleeves up and collect the points we need to ease fears of a second successive relegation.

A determined Artell told crewealex.net: “I think the players have responded well to what we want from them. They have done that in a short space of time and it won’t just happen overnight. We have had two tough games but they also know they can do a lot better as well. They have got to start believing in themselves and his team more.

“I want them to give it their all and I think we have the right characters here to do that. I want players here who want to run through a brick wall for this club. That is what we need.

“If players are not up for the challenge or they don’t want to be here, then they won’t play for me. It’s a simple as that.”
