What the press made of the goalless draw

The Chronicle
Crewe Alex kicked off 2017 with a goalless draw at Morecambe on Monday.
The Railwaymen had chances to take all three points but a combination of a lack of killer instinct, good goalkeeping and bad luck saw them draw a blank.
Morecambe too went close but keeper Ben Garratt, who made an error for Accrington’s winner two days earlier, was faultless between the sticks and got a well-earned clean sheet.
The result makes it six without a win for Crewe, who have dropped a place to 17th in League Two but are now seven points clear of the drop zone.

The Morecambe Visitor
Honours ended even in Morecambe’s first game of 2017 as a battling performance yielded a point at the Globe Arena.
A draw was just about a fair result with Lee Molyneux hitting the bar for Morecambe and Shrimps’ keeper Barry Roche making two fine saves.
