Crewe Alex took a deserved point from an entertaining game at Luton Town on Saturday.

The Alex impressed in an attractive game, and fully merited Ryan Lowe’s leveller to Danny Hylton’s opener.

The result kept Crewe in seventh in League Two.

Crewe were just the better team in a footballing first half, but did not threaten the goal enough despite some good possession.

Chris Dagall and Billy Bingham brought routine saves from keeper Christian Walton, while Ben Garratt had little to do ar the other end.

But just before the break the visitors’ defence was breached when Luton got behind them for the first time and Hylton was afforded a simple finish.

Steve Davis brought on young Tommy Lowery for Charlie Kirk at the break, and the tiny sub well played a big part in the equaliser. His crossfield pass found George Cooper who whipped a perfect cross from Lowe to head in his seventh of the season.

The Railwaymen tried to press for a winner but visibly tired and ended up seeing the game out, quite comfortably, for a draw.

Crewe Alexandra drew 1-1 for a third time in four league games in what was an entertaining game at Kenilworth Road.

Luton took the lead on the stroke of half time as Danny Hylton turned in from close range after a well worked move saw Marriott square the ball for him as Crewe stood and watched.

However, Crewe were level 20 minutes later through their skipper Ryan Lowe. It was a deserved goal as the visitors dominated after the break, with the impressive George Cooper teeing up Lowe with a delicious cross which the 38-year-old nodded in at the back stick.

Crewe had the better of the chances, with goalkeeper Ben Garratt rarely troubled, with Billy Bingham firing an effort just wide, and George Cooper curling a free-kick inches over just before the Alex equalised.

Despite a fourth league game without a win, manager Steve Davis will take plenty of positives from the performance, not least Cooper, who once again caught the eye with an impressive display.

Luton Town were held to a third straight draw in League Two after a hugely uninspiring performance against Crewe Alexandra this afternoon. 

Although Danny Hylton had put Luton in front with his seventh of the campaign on the stroke of half time, the hosts produced a display lacking any kind of real spark, with Crewe always looking the side more likely to score. 

That turned out to be the case too, as the Railwaymen deservedly got the leveller their neat and incisive play thoroughly deserved, veteran Ryan Lowe losing James Justin to nod home the back post just after the hour mark. 

A telling factor in just how little the home supporters had been entertained, was the lack of a roar that usually accompanies the fourth official's board to signal injury time, with many already accepting they weren't about to witness a late winner.
