Kiwomya Choice To Be Made

23 September 2016

Boss has a decision to make over cover for injured Chelsea winger.

Steve Davis has told the club’s official web-site that his Crewe Alexandra side may have to play a little differently in the absence of winger Alex Kiwomya. The on-loan Chelsea youngster dislocated his shoulder in last weekend’s impressive 2-0 win at Grimsby and that means there is a place up for grabs in the Alex midfield.

Davis could look to one of his youngsters Charlie Kirk or Callum Ainley to fill the void, or he could draft in an extra midfield player with Billy Bingham the obvious choice if the boss wanted to alter the shape slightly to play 4-3-3 or with a diamond.

Steve told crewealex.net: “With Alex out it is something we have considered and talked about all week. It is an opportunity for someone else to come into the team and fill the void.

“We have a number of players who could come into the team and I will make the decision today. We don’t have a player with the pace of Alex, so we may have to play a little differently. I may alter it slightly and adjust things for the Blackpool game.

“We have plenty to go on. We have made the start we wanted to and it has given us something to build on. There is always room for improvement. We should have had more points than we have.

“Saying that we won the Doncaster game when perhaps we didn’t deserve to, so you just hope those things even things out.”
