Job title: Lead Academy Sport Scientist

Position Overview

development of all academy aged playersA full time position that aims to: 1) Ensure that the Academy Sports Science & Medicine Department meets all PMA input requirements as necessary; 2) Plan and implement the Academy Sports Science programme that focuses on athletic ; 4) Oversee the day-to-day maintenance and match-day preparation for the U23 group. for all academy aged and U23 players, including individual plans; 3) Execute and record all screening tests(U9-18)


Requirements: 

• Previous experience of EPPP and PMA
• Strength & Conditioning qualification or working towards (i.e. NASC/UKSCA/NASM) 
• Hold or working towards a relevant MSc Level Qualification 
 Desirable:

• Driving licence and car 
• Able to be flexible with their working week 
• Experience of managing/leading a team of medical and allied health professionals 
• Evidence of experience within elite sport 
• BSc (Hons) Sports Science

 

Job Responsibilities

      ·Report daily to the Head of Academy Sport Science & Medicine, and Academy Manager.

      ·Planning and implementation of the athletic development programmes for all Academy aged players (U9-18).

      ·Monitoring and recording of anthropometric/ physiological data for all Academy aged players (U9-23).

      ·Planning and implementation of individual/ group strength & conditioning sessions for all Academy aged players (U9-23).

      ·Planning and implementation of individual group testing/ screening sessions for all Academy aged players (U9-23).

      ·Work in collaboration with the Head of Professional Development Phase to organise daily training schedule and intensity for the U23 age group.

      ·Work in collaboration with the Head of Academy Sports Science and Physiotherapy staff to provide specific physical development training sessions for injured Academy aged (U9-18) and U23 players as necessary.

      ·Provide athletic development profiles for all Academy aged (U9-18) and U23 players.

      ·Attend formal monthly Sports Science & Medicine team meetings regarding player progression, and also weekly informal departmental meetings.

      ·Liase with the club Nutritionist to aid planning and implementation of Academy nutritional strategy for all Academy aged (U9-18) and U23 players.

      ·Contribute to monthly CPD within the Academy Sports Science & Medicine department.
