Crewe Sign Midfielder Danny Hollands

19 August 2016

Alex complete deal for experienced defensive midfielder

Crewe Alexandra have completed the signing of experienced midfielder Danny Hollands on a five-month-contract until January 19 2017.

The 30-year-old had been without a Club since leaving Portsmouth in the summer, having turned down their offer of a fresh contract.

Hollands suffered an ankle ligament injury in Pompey's League Two Play-Off Semi-Final defeat to Plymouth last season, having made 39 appearances for the Club during 2015/16.

He will wear the number 15 shirt at the Alex and is available for this weekend's trip to Newport County.

Danny graduated through the youth ranks of Chelsea in 2003, enjoying an experience-gaining loan spell at Torquay United in 2006 before leaving Stamford Bridge without making an appearance.

Bournemouth in 2006 was his next stop, making 219 appearances in five seasons for the Cherries before switching to Charlton in 2011.

A regular in his first season at The Valley, he helped Charlton to promotion from League One before enjoying loan spells over the following two seasons at Swindon, Gillingham and then Portsmouth whom he joined permanently in summer 2014.

After two seasons with Pompey, and 94 appearances, Hollands left in summer 2016 after turning down fresh terms.
