Artell says competition for places is becoming tougher as Bingham and Kirk return.
Crewe Alexandra midfielder Billy Bingham came through Monday’s U-23 game against Sheffield Wednesday unscathed and is back in contention for this weekend’s home game against Stevenage. Bingham, who scored in the 2-1 win over the Owls has trained all week and David Artell could be set to bring him back into his squad following the unfortunate injury to Danny Hollands.
Charlie Kirk, who also scored against Sheffield Wednesday, is back in contention for a place on the bench after he served his three-match suspension following his red card at Exeter City.
David Artell told the club’s official web-site: “Both Billy and Charlie are back in contention. They both played and scored on Monday against Sheffield Wednesday and have trained well this week, so they are being considered like everyone else.
“It is a nice problem to have. These are the problems you welcome as a manager and I want that competition for places in the squad. I want them to want to be a part of what is happening at first team level.”
Crewe are without Danny Hollands, who has suffered a severe hamstring injury and is set to undergo an operation in the next couple of days.
