Baker will remain in his role as Head Of Recruitment but Artell says he will use his knowledge to help with first team affairs.

David told the club’s official website: “I will lean on Neil as much as I can. I have had conservation with him and he knows that. He has an important play, not only on the recruitment side but also with the knowledge he has.

“I’ve said to them that I would like him on call 24 hours a day. That’s my plan.

“I need his help in finding the right players and making sure we give ourselves the best chance of bringing them into the club. We need to supplement the talent we already have here. “
