Bakayogo Signs For The Alex!

20 June 2016

Popular defender Zoumana Bakayogo signs for the Railwaymen.

Crewe Alexandra Football Club is delighted to announce the re-signing of Zoumana Bakayogo.
The 29-year-old defender has signed a one-year deal with an option of a further year.

The popular Bakayogo is Steve Davis’ second signing of the summer following the arrival of Ryan Lowe on a free transfer from Bury.

The former Ivory-Coast youth International made 22 appearances for Crewe Alexandra last season, scoring his first goal for the club in the 3-1 defeat at Chesterfield back in February.

The Paris-born Bakayogo signed a six-month deal with the club at the turn of the year after proving his fitness levels to Steve Davis and now former Leicester City and Tranmere Rovers man says he was eager to repay the loyalty shown by the club.

On signing his new deal, Bakayogo told crewealex.net: “I am happy to sign for Crewe. I enjoyed my time here and everyone made me feel welcome. Everyone was great with me, the manager, staff, players and the fans.

“The club and the manager showed a lot of faith in me and gave me a chance and I wanted to repay that loyalty. The club were very good with me, so I want to give something back. I am pleased to sign and how we all have to work hard to do well in League Two.

“I think my experience will help the young players. We have to make sure we all work hard as a team to have a better season. League Two will be tough but we will be ready.

Zooms added: “I want to play as many games as I can. I have never played in League Two, so it will be something new for me too, but I am ready for the challenge ahead.”
