Artell: "Let's Make Home A Fortress"

24 February 2017

Dave Artell wants a repeat of Blackpool at the Alexandra Stadium.

Crewe Alexandra manager David Artell wants the home support to conjure up an atmosphere to rival that created at Blackpool last weekend. The Crewe boss was quick to praise the 700 Crewe fans who travelled to Bloomfield Road last Saturday and they helped us recover a two-goal deficit at half-time to earn a point.

Crewe welcome Stevenage to Gresty Road this weekend and the Alex boss says the fans will play a key role again.

Dave told us: “We have to make our home games count and it would be great to have the same atmosphere the away fans created at Blackpool. It would be great to have another 3,000 in own stadium doing that because I want Gresty Road to become a tough place to come.

“Football supporters are usually 99.9% bright and intelligent about the game and they know they can make a difference to performance. We need more of them shouting, chanting or signing the ‘we got Ollie Turton’ song at the home games.

“I know this Football Club hasn’t given them much to shout about over the last few years but if we can get a marginal gain by creating a positive atmosphere at our own games then that is only going to be an advantage.”
