David Artell drives more intensity into training drills

David Artell has revealed that he cancelled yesterday’s recovery day in favour of a more intense training session. The new Crewe Alexandra boss has told the club’s official web-site that he wants his players to play at a more intense level and that he will incorporate that into the training sessions.

The Crewe boss told the club’s official web-site: “The lads trained properly yesterday and what I mean by that is, they didn’t have a recovery day.

“I wanted them to train and put their bodies on the line again. I want them to adjust to that and become better at playing under fatigue.

“It never did me any harm, training on a Monday over 12, 13 years or whatever it is. It is only when I got a bit older that I had to manage that a bit better.

“I want to increase the intensity and we will look to do that through the training sessions. We need to reach that level for longer.”
