Richards Fully Recovered After Shoulder Problem

22 May 2019

Goalkeeper Dave Richards has been given the all-clear after making a full recovery from the shoulder problem that kept him out of action for the final weeks of the 2018/19 season.

The 25-year-old started out last season as the starting goalkeeper, but lost his place to Ben Garratt by the end of August.

With Garratt now departing the Club, Richards & Will Jaaskelainen look set to battle it out for the number one jersey heading in to pre-season.

Assistant Manager Kenny Lunt told us: “The physio has been in & said that Dave was due in this week, but Dave doesn’t need to come in – so he’s fit now & they’ll be good competition between the two of them.

“You can never argue Dave Richards’ work rate or work ethic, he just needs to prove that he’s the best keeper at the Football Club & once he does that, he gets his chance & he takes his chance to stay in the team.

“It sounds simple, but it’s not as simple as that because there are others fighting for it & they’ll be doing exactly the same.”
